ThermoConverter

The ThermoConverter is a patented invention that will produce twice as much electricity from your heat source than other technologies. And it will reduce maintenance cost significantly

  • The first clue of the invention is to use steam to drive water through a volumetric turbine. Fluid turbines have a far better efficiency than steam turbines.
  • The second clue is to keep the pressure inside a closed system. Pressure is energy. Never release it! The ThermoConverter is a system without energy leaks.

How it works

High pressure steam (e.g. 30 bars) from the boiler drives the water out of a high pressure tank, and the water drives a volumetric turbine with an electric generator. The turbine controls the downstream pressure to approx. 2-3 bars, and the low pressure water is returned to a buffer tank.

Halfway down, the steam inlet closes, and the water is driven by the closed-in steam pressure. This time, the water is driven into a medium pressure flow line with a medium pressure turbine.
When the tank is nearly empty, the outlets are closed, and the steam is released back via a steam turbine and a condenser. In parallel, water is refilled into the cylinder to fill it up again. When full, the cycle is ready to start again.

Now, to get continuous electricity production, we need for example four cylinders, where the cycles are run phase shifted from each other.

Fuel

The ThermoConverter can be fuelled with any flammable substrate, with solar energy (CSP – Concentrated Solar Power) or industrial waste heat.

Applications

The ThermoConverter can be utilized in a wide range of applications.

  • Bio gas energy plants (methane developed from manure or other organic substrates)
  • Bio mass energy plants (wood-based)
  • Coal fired energy plants
  • Waste fired energy plants
  • Oil/gas fired energy plants
